“Gain more energy by consuming lesser calories”

Here I am not going to bore you with words typically found in research papers to make simple things look complicated just to make few people intelligent.

The one routine we all follow religiously is eating three times a day unless we don’t have access to food. Eating less than three meals a day is considered to be unhealthy and assumed to lead to long-term health problems. But, what if I tell you this could be the biggest lie that is passed through many many generations of human history.

It might have worked for the older generation because of the two most important factors. One, food was not easily available, and having three meals a day could be a luxury for them. Second, they were more physically active. Now, much has been changed.

Three meals a day is becoming a burden on our body because

  1. Nowadays humans are getting less physically active than ever and are spending most of the time indoors sitting behind a desk. I have seen people trying to put the treadmill under the chair to workout while working. Yesterday saw a kickstart project which will make it easy to put your chair over the treadmill ( Link). It's not the future, this is happing today.
  2. Food has changed. Now food is packed with more calories than ever, thanks to mass production. The same amount of food will give you more calories than the food 100 years ago. Our food has less water, fewer fibers, contains more oils and sugars, overcooked, stale which takes more time and energy to properly digest. We have almost stopped eating raw foods which are made available to us by mother nature.

Why do you think obesity is the problem of humans? If you are not going to use something will you have it? Humans would be the only species on the earth still figuring out what to eat. If we look at Nature, then we have the obvious answer about what to eat and that will not drive big corporations and big profits, so they lie to us and we believe them. They spend money to tell lies and that earns them more money. It’s obvious if it earns money to tell lie then anyone will do it because it's the easiest money anyone can earn.

It also had no concern about my eating habit till I was diagnosed with Tuberculosis(TB) 7 years ago. I recovered within 6 months but it has changed my life for good. TB is a bacterial disease that takes over the body when the immune system becomes weak. In my case, it was my lifestyle and eating habits responsible for weakening my immune system.

Fasting is not uncommon in India and it is an integral part of everyone's life because it's linked to religious practice, celebrated.
